Day 13: Sun 1 May - Texas to Meandarra, 292km; total towed: 926km

15-24 deg C, fine and sunny all day

Whilst Greg went for his usual early morning walk, Wendy had her usual Sunday lay in bed until 7am. After breakfast, we packed up and were on the road by 8:15 am 15 minutes ahead of schedule. It was lovely to finally meet up with Bob and Noeleene in Yelarbon, that now completes the trio of vans originally planned for this trip. Who knows, others may join us along the way.

We stopped just outside Goondiwindi to photograph some interesting sculptures and then again for fuel in Goondiwindi ($1.899 x 89 litres makes for an eye-watering bill). Mornos was had at another stop about 20km north of Goondiwindi.

We did not stop again until we reached our intended destination of Meandarra. We stopped in here on our way from Dalby to Surat on our 2020 Outback During COVID-19 trip that we started with G&Y and M&S. It is a small town with a huge ANZAC Memorial Museum that was really good. Unfortunately, it was closed today.

After setting up, we had lunch then went for a wander through the streets. The boys then went for a bike ride around Meandarra and along Brigalow Creek, whilst the girls relaxed with books and blogs.

Pre-dinner drinks were had during which we discussed the next week to 10 days of the trip. Dinner, shower, and bed.

The road today alternated between being quite good to downright nasty; rocky-rollie and rough.

Wrap-up and Reflections

The main thing we learned on this trip was to stay flexible. Bad weather interrupted us 25 days into the trip, meaning we had to spend three...
