We left our rather full free camp at 8am. First stop (9:45am) was at the Longreach RV park; one, because we were too early to check-in, two we needed to get a script to the pharmacy before it closed at midday. After a brew in the van, we dropped the script off and then had a slow wander around a fairly busy town centre. After half an hour or so, we picked up the filled script, made our way to the Longreach Tourist Park and were checked-in on site #85 at 11:25am. Wendy immediately got a load of washing on as there were three to do and get dry before the end of the day.
After lunch and a little rest, Greg went for a ride around this pleasant town. He visited some old haunts that are always good to see again, like the Qantas Museum (from outside), the Chook Pen Van Park (donation camp - we'd stayed there last year), the lovely old Railway Station and the Botanical Cycleway. Longreach has a great feel to it - you tend to slow down.
Wendy decided she would rather be cleaning; go figure! She dusted and swept the van, and then cleaned the shower, where the dust had built up a bit. Being off grid for so long, we have not been able to wash it down after the last shower of the day. It looks pretty good now and will last until we get home.
After Greg returned to the van, he saw that an old Army Mate, (Col Nayda) who he'd been following on a FB, was also staying in a cabin in the same park. Col is with a bunch of mates on a motorcycle tour. Greg went and found him and caught up. It had only been abut 35 years since they'd seen each other. Once a mate, always a mate.
We had our pre-dinner drink on our hard standing (a novelty since leaving Burketown), then the worms started to bit quite hard, so it was back inside to cook and eat dinner.
