It was so quiet last night at our free camp that we could hear each others' heart beat. Not quite as fresh as we have been used to lately so had no trouble getting up for pre-dawn walks. We left at 8am still on the same new road for us. First stop was for a photo op at Sedan Dip and second stop was on the side of the road for mornos. We couldn't find a proper rest stop, so we drove down into the ditch on the side of the road. Whilst the ground was not wet, it was a bit sandy, but we made it in and out without any problems.
It was then only another 50km to Julia Creek (JC). After refuelling we made our way to the Julia Creek 96hr RV Stop on the other side of JC. This is a free camp, however, you must register and obtain a permit to camp. We were fortunate enough to get two very nice spots over looking the waterhole, although a bit muddy looking from recent rain, it's still a water view. There's even a couple of resident roosters and a drake which we feed from our wild-bird mix. They now like to hang around our van and tell us when they would like some more. The drake is so fat from people feeding him the wrong food, eg. bread, that he can hardly walk.
Before lunch we rode the 1.2km into town to restock our supplies. After lunch and a rest, Greg went for a ride with Bob while Wendy caught up on admin stuff and the blog.
Dinner was had at the JC Pub and the meals were some of the best we've had this trip We walked in to the pub, and waddled home.
The grass on the side of the road looked like a bowling green and the colour of the sky is amazing
