Day 57: Mon 4 Jul - Croydon

13 (feels like 9) - 17 (feels like 13) deg C, overcast, drizzly and windy in the morning, clearing to a sunny afternoon and a clear early evening

The early morning walk was completed with a few layers on due to the sneaky wind. After breaky, Greg went with B&N for a walk into and around town. Greg did most of the historic walk, but without Wendy's supervision not all the sites were photographed (fail, tut, tut). Not to worry, there is always next time. Wendy had to do some urgent work so missed all the excitement. She even worked through mornos and lunch so that she could be finished in the early afternoon.

After lunch, Greg went for a ride with Bob to Lake Belmore, about 4km out of town. Some nice hills on the way which kept them honest. Also saw the spot where gold was first discovered by a bloke digging a hole for a fence post. Like all places in Australia where gold was discovered, the Chinese miners quickly followed, hence the remains of Chinatown still remain visible today.  On his return he  deconstructed the camp in preparation for tomorrow's departure. After work, Wendy got stuck into making roasted pumpkin soup for dinner, that tasted delicious.

Pre-dinner drinks were had between the two vans, with a bit of pre-planning in order to schedule a service for the two vehicles. Dinner, a bit of TV on demand, then bed.

Parts of a very well done display at the Info Centre
