We left Ayr at 8:15am under fresher than usual conditions. First stop was at the Black Hawk Memorial at Townsville where there is very little parking for caravans. We made a plan and the boys had a quick look before we moved on. Mornos was had at Bluewater Park, a free camp for overnighters. Although the road in was a tad pot-holed, it was a very nice place to overnight, if we wanted to. Coffee and eats consumed, it was onwards to Ingham.
We parked up at the TYTO Self Contained camp adjacent the Ingham/Hinchinbrook Visitor Information Centre. It is a limited "free camp", even though you have to pay $10/n. We have a very expansive site, but no power and no water. Toilets during the day, with 24/7 loos only 400m up the road.
After lunch and a rest, we took the bikes for a tour around Ingham. We found the café we had mornos at in 2018 and went further along the bike/walking path. Back to the van to do some planning and booking. So, we have booked from now until we hit Cooktown. We had to try a number of places at Port Douglas before we found a place for two 26ft total travel length vans for two nights. We even managed to get a Chillagoe Cave guided tour on the day we wanted.
A pre-dinner drink was had before walking into town to the JuFu Chinese restaurant for dinner. All the meals were large and very filling. The walk home was a blessing to settle the tummies before bed.
