Day 1: Tue 19 Apr - Home to Toowoomba, 366km

16 (home) - 24 (Twba) deg C

We left home just after 7:30 this morning, and it is just as well we did. There were lots of roadworks between Cooyar and Crows Nest. We suspect they are fixing up the roads after the flood damage about a month ago, plus some upgrading.

We stopped at Kilkivan for mornos made in the van and consumed out the front of Julie's Cafe (used to be The German Cafe/Coffee Shop) which was closed. By doing this, we created some confusion for the motorcyclists; they pulled up thinking they could get a coffee! We stopped again at Cooyar for lunch in the van before arriving at the Toowoomba Showgrounds just after 2pm.

This camp is an interesting hodge-podge of sites. You pay the one rate whether you want power and water or not. So, we found a spot with power and water and set up. We are directly opposite a huge Comet 35ft windmill which still turns but doesn't 'work'. It is quite noisy, so we hope the wind doesn't pick up too much during the night.

After a cuppa, Greg went for a ride to visit his brother and sister-in-law. It was all uphill on the way there, and for those that know Toowoomba, the hills are real hills. It was a breeze on the way back though.

Dinner was consumed, then a catch up with the news, before bed.
